As creatives, we’re very good at expressing ideas, but not always expressing our worries.
Our work is often how we measure ourselves – the volume we’re making, how good or bad it is, how many clicks we’re generating. We’ve all felt the pressures and experienced the sleepless nights, but no one really calls it out and talks about it.
‘On the inside’ is a project which makes these internal struggles visible. Together with Everpress and creative mental health charity PoetsIn, we asked 11 leading creators to openly share their deepest fears, doubts and setbacks through a series of artworks.
Their pieces were printed on the insides of T-shirts, as a metaphor for how we keep them so close to our chest. We hope that seeing some of their worries helps to alleviate the worries of others, and open up a much needed conversation.
The shirts were exhibited and sold with the proceeds split between PoetsIn and the artists themselves.
Finally, we topped the project off with an Everpress meets panel discussion in which we all took a big breath in and out, and explored how creatives can cope with anxiety and stress.
