Problem:
How to interest the Dutch public for the Unesco World Heritage sites in their country.
Solution:
Let international tourists express their enthusiasm and knowledge about the sites.
The Netherlands is a small country. Yet it hosts no less than ten amazing Unesco sites such as the Mill Network at Kinderdijk, the D.F. Wouda Steam Pumping Station, the Van Nelle Factory in Rotterdam and the Beemster Polder.
Dutch tourists are world travelers. And on their travels, they visit Unesco sites everywhere. Thus, it is remarkable that they are hardly aware of the locations and history of the great sites in their own country. By making international tourists competent ambassadors for the Dutch World Heritage sites in an ironic way, we enhance knowledge and pride among the national public.
The campaign sums it up by stating: ‘Our World Heritage is world famous. Soon in the Netherlands as well.’
